India selected for FIFA's coin programme
New Delhi: India was selected by the Federation International de Football Association (FIFA) for its Commemorative Coin programme launched worldwide to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the glory of modern football by the world football body.
Apart from India, the other major countries covered in the official distribution agreement are West Asia, Africa, South America, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Thailand and Indonesia.
FIFA has released a set of columns which consist of four silver coins each with a district design on the obverse representative of significant events connected with FIFA, while the reverse shares a common, strong reference to football, a release here said.
