Unbeaten 137 by Terence

SALEM, JULY 6. An unbeaten 137 by G. Terence enabled Tiruchi to score a 31-run win over Namakkal in the TNCA under-17 inter-district cricket tournament, for the P.R. Thevar Trophy, here on Tuesday.

Batting first, Tiruchi posted a healthy 252 for nine. Led by a thumping 112 by Prabhakaran, Namakkal stayed well on course for comfortable victory before Arvinda Dhakshan wreaked havoc with a six wicket burst that turned the tide in Tiruchi's favour.

In another match, Tirunelveli, thanks to Laxman's 58, scored a thrilling one-wicket win over host Salem.

In Coimbatore, R. Hari Prasad (63) and K. Kausthub (55) came good with decent knocks to steer Coimbatore to a big 222-run win over Pondicherry.

Electing to bat, the host totalled 271 for eight in the allotted 50 overs. In reply, the Pondicherry batsmen, unable to read the line and length of C. Madhu and R. Anand, surrendered meekly at 49 in 24.3 overs.
