CHITRADURGA, JULY 6. Many people attended the Janaspandana programme of M.A. Sadiq, Deputy Commissioner, at Hosadurga on Tuesday. Mr. Sadiq received 121 applications ranging from those on distribution of Ashraya houses, fair price shops, transformers and construction of check dams. Responding to a request by a physically challenged woman, Mr. Sadiq got her sanctioned financial assistance on the spot under a special scheme of the Government. He directed the officers to relocate the arrack shop, fish market and leather shop from Hiriyur Road to the outskirts of the town. Earlier, many women requested him to issue the direction. Mr. Sadiq asked the tahsildar to conduct a survey of the graveyards in villages which were said to have been encroached. The tahsildar was also directed to identify land for a graveyard at Hosadurga. Mr. Sadiq suspended a village accountant of Hulikunte revenue circle in Challakere taluk, B.V. Ukkada, on the charge of dereliction of duty. The villagers have complained to Mr. Sadiq against the official. K.H. Satyaprema Devi, medical officer at Challekere Taluk Hospital, was relieved of the additional charge of hospital administration. Mr. Sadiq received many complaints against Dr. Devi that she neglected her regular duties. C.L. Babu, physician, will hold the additional charge of administration.
