Lechatelier MHSS regains title

MADURAI, JULY 7. Lechatelier Matriculation Higher Secondary School regained the V. K. Kalyanasundaram Memorial Trophy after a lapse of two years, defeating the defending champion, TVS Lakshmi Matriculation Higher Secondary School by 17 runs in the final of the 12th annual Madurai District Schools cricket tournament here today.

The scores: Lechatelier MHSS 161 for nine in 30 overs (Manikandan 35, Samathuvan 30, Arun 30 not out; Aditya three for 22, Manikandan three for 33) bt TVS LMHSS 144 in 27.3 overs (Ravikiran 58 not out; Samathuvan four for 31).

Special Awards: Batsman: R. G.Vignesh (TVS LMHSS); Bowler: Samthuvan (Lechatelier); Promising Youngster: Vignesh (S.B.O.A); Wicket-keeper: Thirumurugan (Lechatelier); Man-of-the-Tournament: Manikandan (Lechatelier); Disciplined team: Jeevana School.
