Wajih maintains clean slate

NEW DELHI, JULY 7. Railways' Nassir Wajih won with the black pieces to maintain his all-win record and lead the field with five points after five rounds in the inter-ministry chess tournament here. His team-mate Virender Mishra (4.5) was close on Wajih's heels after beating U. P. Choudhary with the white pieces.

The results (fifth round): D. K. Gupta (4) lost to Nassir Wajih (5), Virender Mishra (4.5) bt U. P. Choudhary (3.5), Rajeev Vasudev (4) drew with S. P. Mahto (3.5), J. M. Baisakh (4) bt A. K. Kalshyan (3), Ramesh Prasad (3) lost to Rajesh Kumar (4), Sunil Prabhat (4) bt M. S. Rehman (3), T. S. Sodhi (4) bt P. Chakrapani (3), Sukhwinder Singh (3) lost to Rajiv Kumar (4), Rakesh Kumar (3.5) bt J. P. Srivastava (2.5), Ajay Bhardwaj (2.5) lost to Vipin Tiwari (3.5), G. Sriniwas (2) lost to K. N. Pant (3.5).
