Asia Cup: IOC secures title sponsorship

MUMBAI, JULY 7. Oil major Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has entered cricket in a big way, securing the title sponsorship of the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and signing up three Indian cricketers as brand ambassadors for one year.

IOC has committed to spend $2.75 million towards title sponsorship and for airtime in ESPN-Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the event.

Indian Oil has committed for a title sponsorship sum of $2 million.

Three quarter million dollars will be spent on product promotion and publicity on ESPN-Star Sports.

According to sources, the Asian Cricket Council will receive around $20 million from television rights.

Indian Oil has signed Anil Kumble, Yuvraj Singh and Irfan Pathan as brand ambassadors for one year.
