Kolkata monsoon season from July 14

KOLKATA, JULY 7. The monsoon meeting of the Royal Calcutta Turf Club gets underway on July 14, and will stretch up to October 13. It is proposed to have 106 races during the meeting. The stake money on offer is Rs. 1,25,25,000 with cups/trophies valued at Rs. 1,78,500.

About 40 jockeys and seven apprentices will be participating during the meeting.

Digital CCTV cameras are to be installed within the first days of the season, and the RCTF will begin uplinking Kolkata races to other centres.

Special race days: August 5: Air Force day: (Akash Ganga Cup and Surya Kiran Cup); August 11: Fillies Trial day (Fillies Trial Stakes, Commuter Cup and Pa Bear Cup); August 18: Independence Cup Day (Independence Cup and Prince Blossom Cup); August 25: Colts Trial Day: (Colts Trial Stakes, Orange William and Bhishma Cup); September 17: Derby Day (Derby Trial Stakes, Hovercraft Cup and Star of Italy Cup); September 30: Monsoon Cup Day (Monsoon Cup); October 6: Army Day (Unknown Warrior Cup and Defence Forces Cup); October 13: (Bengal Area Day (Force William Cup and NIMC Cup).
