Chetan Williams scores hat-trick

BANGALORE, JULY 7. Chetan Williams's hat-trick (four for 13) helped Swastic Union CC (1) strike back against Social Cricketers in the KSCA Special Knock Out Super Eight tournament final in progress at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Wednesday.

On the second day's play, Chetan struck late in the evening, scalping Jagadeesh, Srinivas and Rajashekar Shanbal to leave Social Cricketers struggling at 22 for four in its second innings.

Earlier, Social Cricketers added three more runs to its overnight score of 329 for eight, with B.N. Bharath (116, 188b, 16x4, 1x6) being the last man to be dismissed. In reply, the Swastic Union was bowled out for 266, conceding its opponents a 66-run lead. Jonathan top-scored with 91. Off-spinner C. Raghu grabbed four wickets for 66 runs.

However, the game swung Swastic's way late in the evening as Chetan Williams struck.

The scores: Social Cricketers 332 in 95.2 overs (B.N. Bharath 116, Sunil Kumar 75, Sudhindra Shinde 49, Jagadeesh 36, Vinoo Prasad four for 99) and 22 for four in 13 overs (Chetan Williams four for 13) vs Swastic Union CC (1) 266 in 69 overs (Jonathan 91, Thilak Naidu 49, Syed Ibrez 46, Sunil Kumar 34, Chetan William 29, C. Raghu four for 66, Sunil Kumar three for 27).
