Fair play award for Australian cricket

Sydney: Despite the sledging slur attached to the side, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) on Thursday chose Australian cricket for a major national award for good sports and fair play.

Australian cricket was selected for the 2004 Ausport Award following their Spirit of Cricket campaign last summer. The Ausport Award is the premier recognition from ASC each year and it went to Cricket Australia for its outstanding contribution to the health and growth of national sport based on Australian cricket's Spirit of Cricket project, a CA release said. — UNI
