MUMBAI, JULY 8. The first `Central Players' contract' will not be offered to the Indian cricketers before they leave for Colombo for the Indian Oil Asia Cup on July 13. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary, S. K. Nair, said that though the players' representatives and the Board have come to an agreement, there are a few more things to be worked out. "There is no time frame and we don't have to rush through the contract. We have to make a full-proof document to the satisfaction of the parties concerned. We will also have another round of meeting with the players' representatives, if necessary,'' said Mr. Nair. The Board's grading committee was to meet in Kolkata on Friday to classify the players into three groups. "The Board and the players were keen to finalise the contract before the Asia Cup. Unfortunately, it has not happened. We would like to do it at the earliest. Maybe, it will happen after the team returns from Sri Lanka,'' said Mr. Nair. The Board's principal office-bearers were also scheduled to meet in Kolkata on Friday and Saturday. This meeting too has been cancelled because of the inability of the Board Treasurer, Jyoti Bajpai, to travel to Kolkata from Mumbai. Mr. Bajpai has been operated for a meniscus-related ailment.
