Badrinath, Niraj hit centuries; Raghavendran bags six

CHENNAI, JULY 8. S. Badrinath (Jolly Rovers) and Niraj Patel (Indian Bank) notched up centuries while Parry's off-spinner N. Raghavendran (six for 45) shone on the opening day of the second round in the SPIC-TNCA first division league here on Thursday.

S. Badrinath's 164 (243b, 28x4) was the highlight as Rovers ended the day at 281 for four against Globe Trotters. The No. 3 batsman's hundred and his 198-run partnership for the fourth wicket in 62.2 overs with D. Vinay Kumar (74 batting, 191b, 6x4, 2x6) placed Rovers, which elected to bat, in a comfortable position, at the MRF-Pachaiyappa's ground.

Parry's off-spinner N. Raghavendran's six-wicket haul and opener Ritesh Jaiswal's 90 (194b, 8x4) for SICAL were the noteworthy performances at the Viveka-SICAL ground after the host opted to bat. SICAL was 202 for nine at close.

Niraj Patel (102, 114b, 18x4, 6x1) sparkled at No. 3 for Indian Bank against SPIC at SPIC-YMCA. Indian Bank, which won the toss, was 247 for four at stumps.

Jolly Rovers 281 for four in 90 overs (S. Badrinath 164, D. Vinay Kumar 74 not out) vs Globe Trotters, at MRF-Pachaiyappas.

SICAL 202 for nine in 90 overs (Ritesh Jaiswal 90, N. Raghavendran six for 45) vs Parry's, at Viveka-SICAL.

Alwarpet 146 for six in 97 overs (R. Srinivasan 42, Sunil Moses 40 batting) vs IOB, at IIT-Chemplast.

India Pistons 278 for four in 90 overs (Anand George 52, S. Lekshmi Kumar 41, Pankaj Dharmani 98 batting) vs Mambalam Mosquitos, at CPT-IP.

Vijay 335 in 88.2 overs (Sunny Patel 60, R. Prassana 81, Sunil Oasis 52, S. Thyagarajan three for 65, V. Vijayasarathy three for 74) vs State Bank, at ICL-Guru Nanak.

Indian Bank 247 for four in 90 overs (Niraj Patel 102) vs SPIC, at SPIC-YMCA.
