Chess Hall of Fame at Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE, JULY 7. FIDE vice president and AICF secretary P.T. Ummer Koya has announced that the All India Chess Federation (AICF) would set up a Chess Hall of Fame here.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said that it would start functioning within a few months.

He said the Hall of Fame would document in words as well as pictures the growth of the sport at the National and international level.

It will also house a huge library with thousands of books and magazines about chess, he said. There will be a museum for chess too, he added.

"This would be only the second Hall of Fame in the world, the first one having come up in Miami in the US three years ago," he said.
