KOLKATA, JULY 8. DTDC Tollygunge Agragami and Mohammedan Sporting started their Calcutta Football League's Super Division campaign in contrasting styles, with the former drawing 2-2 against George Telegraph SC while the latter beat Calcutta Football Club 2-1. Mohammedan Sporting, relegated from the National Football League's elite division last season, got the better of the promoted Calcutta Football Club by Jiten Rai's 76th minute goal after the first half had seen the two teams locked 1-1. On the other hand, Agragami struggled against George Telegraph and had to settle with a draw despite going into the lead twice. Agragami went ahead in the 20th minute through Surojit Basu before Srikanta Das equalised for Telegraph five minutes later. This was repeated in the second session as Gouranga Dutta gave Agragami the lead again in the 57th minute just to see Telegraph levelling the issue through Sanjoy Majhi in the 63rd minute. Disciplinary action against four u-21 players The sport's local governing body, Indian Football Association (IFA), found four players of the Bengal under-21 team Amjad Ali Khan, Syed Rahim Nabi, Madhav Das and Saimik Dey guilty of "assaulting and mobbing the referee" in the final of the M. Dutta Roy Trophy, that was held at Jamalpur in Bihar's Munger District on June 4. Acting on the behest of the All India Football Federation, IFA constituted a fact-finding commission to probe into the allegation of assault on referee Mustaq Ahmed Siddiqi of Madhya Pradesh by the four players led by Khan in the final match that Bengal lost 1-4 to Punjab. The four players admitted to have committed their acts of misconduct to the commission and sought clemency from IFA. The case was further referred to a five-member disciplinary committee, which took its decision on Thursday. While Amjad Ali Khan was suspended indefinitely and fined Rs. 25,000, the other three escaped with a two-match suspension and a fine of Rs. 15,000 each. Khan's fate will now be decided by the AIFF, informed the IFA secretary, Mr. Subroto Dutta.
