Rain washes out play
VISAKHAPATNAM,
JULY 15.
The GITAM-AITA Super Series tournament for under-14 boys and girls was extended by a day after rain washed out play for the second consecutive day on Thursday.
Two matches in the boys singles qualifying rounds were yet to be completed and the main draw of boys and girls events should commence but rain did not allow any action on Thursday also. With the boys and girls eager to play, the organisers tried to start the matches on the two new synthetic courts.
For four times during the day they made the courts ready but a fresh spell of rain at every time the schedule was about to commence, forced the organisers to cancel the day's schedule.
After consulting the AITA officials at New Delhi and with their consent, the tournament was postponed by a day. The finals would now be held on July 18.
