AC Guards keeps SBI at bay
HYDERABAD,
JULY 15.
AC Guards scored a hard-fought 5-4 win over State Bank of India in the Senior State hockey championship match at Begumpet Police Stadium here today.
SBI took the lead through a field goal from Victor Moses only to see the rival level the scores thanks to a fine effort from winger Abdul Amjad.
He again scored just before the break to give AC Guards a 2-1 lead at the break.
On resumption, AC Guards was more aggressive from the start and striker Syed Ibrahim and Aziz Bin Abdullah struck twice.
Winger Abdul Hannan was next on target to complete the tally for the winner.
SBI reduced the margin through two penalty-corner conversions by Rami Reddy and Nagaraju's solo effort.
