Latin Catholics to launch stir on August 2

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JULY 18. Various organisations of Latin Catholics, which met here today, decided to launch an agitation jointly with the Church on August 2 to demand special recruitment on the basis of the Narendran Commission recommendations.

The decision was taken after a meeting of the leaders of the Latheen Katholikka Aikya Vedi, A. James Fernandez and Neyyattinkara Xavier, and the Archbishop of Thiruvananthapuram, M. Susaipakiam.

Mr. Fernandez said that the UDF should clarify why it had decided to set up a committee to consider implementation of the recommendations after having made a promise in the poll manifesto.
