BANGALORE, JULY 20. Ram Madhav, spokesman of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has questioned the inquiry ordered by the Minister for Railways, Lalu Prasad, into the Godhra carnage as a commission is already investigating the incident. Mr. Madhav told presspersons here today that the Nanavathi Commission was inquiring into the carnage in which 59 people died when a coach of the Sabarmathi Express was set afire at Godhra in Gujarat on February 27, 2002. He said Mr. Prasad's action was politically motivated and he should stop the inquiry ordered by him. Mr. Madhav was critical of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for the remarks in the Human Development Report that communal riots could hinder the economic development of the country.
