MYSORE, JULY 27. Hundreds of people thronged the office of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. at Jayalakshmipuram in Mysore for the second successive day on Tuesday for pre-paid SIM cards being issued by the authorities Though BSNL released over 3,000 pre-paid SIM cards earlier, the authorities announced that an additional 5,000 SIM cards would be made available for subscribers in the city. There is already a long waiting list with over 10,000 eligible applicants who have received acknowledgement from the authorities and are now awaiting the issue of SIM cards. As a result of the heavy turnout, the BSNL officials had a tough time gaining entry into the office when they arrived around 10 a.m. Security was increased to prevent any untoward incident and the police intervened on many occasions to soothe frayed tempers.
