Light rain likely

NEW DELHI JULY 31. The weatherman has forecast a generally cloudy sky with possibility of light rain or thundershower in some areas for the Capital on Sunday.

The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung on Saturday was 37.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum was 28.1 degrees Celsius. Palam recorded a maximum of 36.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28.4 degree Celsius.

The maximum humidity recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was the same at 80 per cent, while the minimum was 53 and 51 per cent respectively.

Re-elected

NEW DELHI JULY 31. Harish K. Saxena, President of the Youth Hostels Association of India, has been elected for a second term as President of the International Youth Hostels Federation, according to a spokesman of the Youth Hostels Association of India here today.

PNB locker case

NEW DELHI JULY 31 .An inquiry into the sensational `tampering' of about 16 lockers of the Punjab National Bank here continued today with the police questioning several people including officials of the bank even as the Finger Print Bureau (PFB) continued with its `mix-match' of imprints lifted with those of suspected people.

As some lockers have yet to be opened of the total number found `drilled', the extent of robbery has yet to be ascertained, said Additional DCP (South-West) Shalini Singh.

``The bank is still getting information from people over the loss incurred in the robbery. Only after the compilation by them has been completed we would be able to tell something specific on the extent of the robbery.''

More people have been interrogated and the exercise was continuing. No breakthrough has been reported till now, she added.

Meanwhile, the FPB which had lifted several finger prints from the `lockers section' of PNB's Naoroji Nagar branch yesterday also, besides those taken on Thursday last, has begun `examining' of the imprints with its databank for identification of criminals involvement.
