Party workers will be taught to think above factions: Thennala

KOCHI, AUG. 1. The KPCC president, Thennala Balakrishna Pillai, has said that the party workers will be taught to think above factional feuds so that the organisational structure of the party is strengthened.

Addressing reporters before attending a district level leadership convention of the Congress held here on Sunday, Mr. Pillai said that most of the party workers increasingly understand the importance of thinking and working above factional politics. He said that finding people who are above factional feuds for restructuring the local level committees of the Congress was a tough task.

Interaction with the local party workers at the various district level meetings had revealed the importance for putting an end to the factional activities which had resulted in doom for the Congress during the Lok Sabha polls, said Mr. Pillai. He pointed out that even the basic work like verifying the electoral list was neglected during the LS polls, as the lower party committees were rendered ineffective. He stressed that the local committees should be strengthened before the next panchayat or Assembly polls so that issues like the restructuring of constituencies or verification of voters list could be handled efficiently. The only permanent solution for the problems haunting the Congress was to conduct organisational polls as soon as possible, said the KPCC president.He was accompanied by the KPCC vice-president, A.C. Jose, the general secretary, Mullappally Ramachandran, the DCC president, K.P. Dhanapalan, and other leaders, Kodikkunnil Suresh, C.N. Balakrishnan and C.P. Muhammed.
