Government staff to get salaries between August 20 and 23

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, AUG. 12. Government employees would receive their salary for the month of August between August 20 and 23 and the pensioners their pension on August 24 in view of the Onam festival, the Finance Minister, K. Sankaranarayanan, has said.

Bonus

In a press release issued here today, he said that the Government had decided to disburse bonus to all eligible Government employees at the same rate as last year. Those ineligible for the bonus would be paid a festival allowance of Rs. 1,000 each. In addition to these, the employees would receive a festival advance of Rs. 400 each. The pensioners would receive a special festival allowance at the same rate as last year.

He reminded the employees of the Government decision, announced earlier, not to keep pending the payment of additional instalments of dearness allowance that fell due from time to time. The Government had announced that an additional 10 per cent dearness allowance would be paid along with the salary during the course of this financial year. Of this, three per cent would be paid with next month's salary and the remaining seven per cent, in two instalments in December this year and March 2005.

Welfare pensions

Over 11.66 recipients of welfare pensions would get one month's pension each this month. One month's unemployment wages too would be distributed before Onam. Employees of defunct public sector undertakings would be given financial assistance before Onam, he said.
