HYDERABAD, AUG. 17. Starting from Wednesday, the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will begin a thorough review of all the departments in a bid to ensure better inter-departmental coordination and sort out bottlenecks in taking quick decisions. Another objective of this exercise is to impress upon bureaucrats the spirit behind his Government's policies and exchange ideas about the good practices. He will explain to them that "spirit and speed" should be the guiding principles for processing files. Dr. Reddy is said to have explained to his senior aides that files should be cleared on the basis of prioritisation and not in a mechanical manner. The Chief Minister wanted to start this exercise last month itself but the Assembly session kept him busy. In tune with his Government's priorities, Dr. Reddy will start his reviews by interacting with officials of the Irrigation Department tomorrow. This will be followed by review of the Transport Department on August 19, Excise (August 23), Industries (August 24), Agriculture (August 25), Social Welfare (August 26), Roads and Buildings (August 27), Rural Development August 30) and Tourism (August 31).
