HYDERABAD,
AUG. 17.
The arguments in the writ petitions filed challenging the action of the State Government providing for reservations to Muslim community were concluded on Tuesday before the larger bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising five judges.
The Government had issued a GO on July 12 providing for five per cent reservation for Muslim community in the filed of education and public employment. Several writ petitions were filed challenging the constitutional validity of the GO. A division bench of the High Court suspended the operation of the GO and directed the authority not to fill the five per cent of seats in medical and engineering courses till the final out come of the case. The cases were referred to larger bench comprising of Justices, B. Sudershan Reddy, J. Chalameshwar, A. Gopal Reddy, Ghulam Mohammed and K.C. Bhanu. The bench declared that the judgement is reserved.
