No breakthrough in pan shop owner murder case

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, AUG. 17. In the absence of clinching evidence, the Narayanaguda police are probing all possible motives behind the killing of a pan shop owner, Ramakrishna, who was shot dead by two unidentified persons at his shop on Hyderguda main road last night.

Police surmise that the four persons, who tried to kill Ramakrishna at his shop on June 4 by attacking him with knives, could be responsible for his murder. But, the fact that those four persons remained unidentified had become a stumbling block in the ongoing investigation.

Police say Ramakrishna could not reason out the earlier attack on him. Though some suspects were taken into custody based on the description of the accused given by the pan shop owner then, they turned out to be innocent subsequently.

Different theories are doing the rounds about the possible motive. While reported dispute over car parking space in his Vineet Residency apartment building at Somajiguda was cited as one of the reasons, inquiries by police revealed that the matter had been resolved a few months ago.

Court case

Recently, Ramakrishna and his father, Jai Hind, were entangled in a court case following property dispute with some of their close relatives, it is learnt. However, no evidence was found in this connection.

Locals told police that two persons, who came to the shop in an inebriated condition a couple of months ago, picked up a quarrel with Ramakrishna. Concrete evidence was yet to be collected in this connection. All calls made and received from his mobile are being verified.

"The accused had used country-made firearms of 8 mm calibre. While one bullet hit on his chest, the other pierced through his thigh," the Central Zone DCP, Srinivasulu, said.
