Coalminer killed as roof caves in

KARIMNAGAR,
AUG. 24.
A Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) coal miner was killed when the roof caved in at 6 (A) incline underground mine on Tuesday afternoon.
Reports reaching here said that the coal badili filler, T. Kiran (24), was excavating coal from the third deep, fourth seam, at 47 and half level in the south region of the mine when the roof collapsed. He died instantaneously due to the fall of coal on him. Other coal workers who were working at other place of the mine escaped unhurt.
The workers staged a dharna on the mine flaying the Singareni management for failing to provide adequate safety measures. Irate workers thrashed a trade union of INTUC for negligence of management in providing safety measures in the underground mine.
