HYDERABAD, AUG. 23. The APTransco and Discoms will constitute special teams to continuously monitor power supply in the field to ensure adherence to the scheduled eight-hour power supply to the agriculture sector. The officials will also conduct meetings sub-station and village-wise with agricultural consumers to explain the power supply situation, inform them about the supply hours and sort out local problems. These decisions were taken at a meeting of transmission and distribution officials presided over by the CMD of APTransco, Rachel Chatterjee, to chalk out an action plan to provide eight hours' supply to protect standing kharif crop as directed by the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Sunday. A press release issued by the APTransco said special measures would be taken to prevent low voltage by maintaining adequate rolling stock of distribution transformers so that the failed equipment can be replaced within 24 hours.
