HYDERABAD, AUG. 24. The fourth annual Telugu Academy `Puraskars' will be presented on Thursday to Intermediate students of Telugu medium who attained first two ranks in the five groups -- MPC, BiPC, CEC, HEC and MEC -- in the examination during 2002-2004. The awards will be presented by the Telugu Academy Chairman and Minister for Higher Education, P. Venkateswara Rao, at a function to be organised on the Academy premises.
Encouraging gesture
The Telugu Academy Director, A. Manjulatha, said that the Academy had been presenting these awards to Telugu medium students as a token of encouragement. The awards being sponsored by the Andhra Bank and the State Bank of Hyderabad, Himayatnagar branches, carry a cash award of Rs. 5,000 for first rankers and Rs. 3,000 for second rankers in the above five groups.
Winners
The first rank award winner in the MPC group, G. Anvesh, of SVS Junior College, Hanamkonda, died recently following illness. It would be handed over to his parents, she said. The other award winners are Y. Rohin Kumar of Ramachandrapuram, V. Sravanthi of Poranki, Vijayawada, C. Nandakishori, Karimnagar, P. Tirupathaiah, Guntur, D. Swapna, Nirmal, G. Moses Choudhary, Vijayawada, M. Sravani, Nirmal, B. Sandeep, Khammam, and A. Venugopal, Hindupur.
