Chandy calls on Prime Minister

NEW DELHI,
SEPT. 3.
Amid his hectic political parleys, the Kerala Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy who was in the capital for a day today to finalise his Council of Ministers met the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, here this morning.
During his 45-minute-long meeting billed as a courtesy call Mr. Chandy urged the Prime Minister to ensure that the Vallarpadam project does not suffer owing to the Government's decision to set up a separate corporation to implement the Sethusamudram project in Tamil Nadu as per which a navigable channel will be developed from the Gulf of Mannar to the Bay of Bengal through the Palk Straits. Besides, the Prime Minister, Mr. Chandy also met the Defence Minister, Pranab Mukherjee.
