MALAPPURAM, SEPT. 3. Prominent leaders of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the second largest partner in the ruling Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), met here today to decide on the names of party nominees to be included in the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy's Cabinet during its expansion. The leaders met at the residence of party president, Panakkad Syed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal, here amidst reports that the party might replace some of its Ministers in the erstwhile A.K. Antony Cabinet. Party sources said the meeting, attended among others by the IUML State secretary, P K Kunhalikutty, who was sworn in as a Minister along with three others when Mr. Chandy took over as Chief Minister on August 31, decided to wait till tomorrow when the IUML national general secretary and Union Minister of State for External Affairs, E. Ahamed, is expected to reach here. While the meeting wanted Mr. Kunhalikutty and M. K. Muneer to retain their Industries and PWD portfolios respectively, the sources said discussions were on to arrive at a decision on the portfolios of Education and Local Self-Government that were held by Nalakkath Soopy and Cherkalam Abdulla respectively. Names of senior party leaders, including E.T. Mohammed Basheer and Kutty Ahamed Kutty, has been proposed for these portfolios, the sources said. - PTI
