SEPT. 6.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Sunil Garg, accompanied by his team of officers, inspectors, sub inspectors, and constables cleaned up Beach Road as part of the department's special drive against garbage on important roads near the police headquarters in the heart of the town on Saturday.
Mr. Garg set an example by removing loose sand, debris and other wastes on the side of the Beach Road, inside the premises of police department offices and also close to the headquarters building on Dumas street.
The three-hour-long `shramdhan' was carried out in collaboration with the Pondicherry Municipality.
Participants included, Superintendents of Police A.S. Munusamy (Headquarters), G. Vijayasundaram (Traffic) and P.R. Ramachandran (Police Training School).
Inspectors, sub inspectors and trainees and men and women constables were part of the team.
Mr. Garg said such programmes should be conducted repeatedly and cover other areas also.
