Congress will take criticism in the right spirit: Vasan

By Our Staff Reporter

DINDIGUL, SEPT. 6. The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president, G.K. Vasan, today said the party would take criticism, views and suggestions by coalition partners, particularly the Communist parties, in the right spirit and work for the people's welfare.

Reacting to remarks made by leaders of the Communist parties, he said they expressed their views and suggestions in their own style. "Why should not we (Congress) take it in the right spirit? All the United Progressive Alliance partners at the Centre led by the Congress have been working as per the agenda laid down in the Common Minimum Programme.

Already, two high power committees have been formed to sort out issues. The party high command would settle them in its own way."

Law and order situation

Mr. Vasan said the law and order situation in the State was pathetic. Already, the AIADMK Government lost the confidence and trust of the people.

Ministers and members of Parliament representing Tamil Nadu would continuously pressure the Centre to direct Karnataka to release Cauvery water.

Mr. Vasan said 100 days of governance by the Congress Government was not a yardstick to measure inflation and increase in the prices of commodities. The Government was taking appropriate steps to control the fluctuation in prices.
