CHENNAI, SEPT. 8. The sky on Thursday will be partly cloudy with a possibility of a shower or thundershower during evening or night.

On Wednesday, the maximum temperature at Nungambakkam was 31.9 degree Celsius and the minimum 35.5. In Meenambakkam, the maximum was 31.2 degree Celsius and the minimum 25.4. A trace of rain was recorded on Wednesday at both the weather stations.

Water tax date extended

Metrowater has extended the deadline for payment of water tax/charges for the first half of 2004-05 without surcharge to September 30.

Belated payment after September 30 must be paid with a surcharge of 1.25 per cent every month. Public can make remittances at the collection centres, which will function on all days, including Sundays from September 12. Payment can also be made at 26 authorised branches of Canara Bank.

Consumers can also make payment online through the official website - www.chennaimetrowater.
