Administrative reshuffle on the cards

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 11. The new Cabinet will grapple with some important matters in the coming weeks. Having completed the appointment of personal staff, the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, would now have to consider a reshuffle of officials, to impart a new vigour to administration. This may take place in a few weeks.

The Cabinet meeting on Wednesday is slated to consider the demand for bus fare hike. While a hike is a foregone conclusion, the Cabinet would have to decide on the quantum. Private bus operators have threatened to launch a strike from September 16 if the Cabinet fails to take a decision. The bus operators are demanding a minimum charge of Rs. 3 and per kilometre fare of 50 paise a km.
