THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 11. The Government has made it clear that only the textbooks prepared on the basis of the curriculum drawn up by the SCERT should be followed in the Plus One class in the current academic year. Accordingly, the Audio-visual and Reprographic Centre has prepared 13 textbooks in different subjects. The books are ready for distribution in the higher secondary schools. Books are now available in subjects like Urdu, Tamil (Part II), Sociology, History, Philosophy, Statistics, Communicative English, Computer Application, Computer Science, Business Studies, Accountancy, Sanskrit (Sasthra, Sahithya) and Culture (Part II). Examinations in these subjects will be based on the SCERT textbooks. Action would be initiated against schools following any other textbooks in these subjects, according to an official release issued here today. The school authorities have been directed to ensure that these books are distributed to the students at the earliest.
