Check price rise: CPI

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,
SEPT. 11.
The State council of the CPI has urged the Government to take effective measures to check the rise in prices of essential commodities.
In a resolution passed at its meeting here today, the CPI State council said the prices of all essential commodities, including vegetables, had increased.
In the past, the strong public distribution system existing in the State had helped hold prices. However, the present UDF Government had systematically undermined the public distribution system. This was the main reason for the present rising trend in prices, the resolution alleged.
The resolution also warned the Government of strong public reaction if it failed to reverse the present trend in prices through effective market intervention.
