MOODBIDRI, SEPT. 27. Rajendra Chenni, an academic and critic, has said that the need of the hour is to tackle the growing influence of globalisation on the lives of the people. Delivering the keynote address at `Shivapura Kambara Namaskara,' a seminar on the works of litterateur, Chandrashekar Kambar, organised by Dr. Chandrashekar Kambar Felicitation Committee here on Sunday, Dr. Chenni said that to do this one had to be creative, thoughtful, and use language to good effect. The Director, Kannada and Culture, Muddu Mohan, who inaugurated the seminar, described Dr. Kambar as a multifaceted, hard working, and caring personality. Mr. Mohan noted that Dr. Kambar had strived to ensure that folklore was put on a firm footing. Replying to the felicitations, Dr. Kambar said that litterateurs were the rallying point of all social causes. However, of late, they had surrendered this role to politicians and they were not in a position to influence public opinion on issues that mattered. Litterateurs should display the spirit shown during integration of State, he noted.
