BANGALORE, SEPT. 27. The deletion of the names of Veer Savarkar, Bhagat Singh, and Chandrasekhar Azad from the Social Science textbook for standard VII this academic year was not intentional, a top official said on Monday. Last year, the Government decided to revise textbooks in schools and appointed a committee under the academician, U.R. Ananthamurthy. There was a sub-committee chaired by a visiting professor at the National Institute of Advanced Studies, S. Settar, which worked on revising the textbooks, according to D. Jagannatha Rao, Director, Department of State Educational Research and Training. The textbooks for standards V to IX were revised under his direction.
