COIMBATORE, OCT. 3. The State Government will come out with a comprehensive policy on small-scale industries (SSIs) soon, D. Rajendran, Secretary, Small Industries Department, has said. It would have components like credit and marketing support for SSIs. He was talking to presspersons here after attending a meeting of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Southern Region. According to him, the Government's concern would be on rehabilitation, extending comprehensive package for ``sick and incipient sick'' units. Consultations had been held with the Small Industries Development Bank of India, the National Small Industries Corporation and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation before formulating the policy.
Manufacturing sector
Earlier speaking at the seminar, he said the Government would accord more focus to the manufacturing sector. He exhorted the small units to avail themselves of the subsidy of Rs. 50 lakhs by joining the cluster development programme in rural areas. He said four of the seven clusters recommended by the State Government to the Centre had been cleared so far.
