THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 15. J. Srinivasan (Thanjavur) and N. Mythili (Chennai) won the 25th LIC South Zone carrom tournament at the LIC Recreation hall here on Friday. J. Srinivasan toppled defending champion and compatriot A. Balasubramanium 25-24, 25-21 to win the men's title. Mythili retained her title with a 25-18, 25-4 win over N. Padmini of Salem in the women's final.
Men: Final: J. Srinivasan (Thanjavur) bt A. Balasubramanium (Thanjavur) 25-24, 25-21. (Loser's final): A. Kathirvelu (Coimbatore) bt D. Kuberan (Chennai) 25-6, 25-11. (Semifinals): A. Balasubramaniuam (Thanjavur) bt D. Kuberan (Chennai) 25-20, 25-0; J. Srinivasan (Thanjavur) bt A. Kathirvelu (Coimbatore) 25-20, 17-25, 25-17.
Women: Final: N. Mythili (Chennai) bt N. Padmini (Salem) 25-18, 25-4. (Loser's final): K. Meenakshi (Madurai) bt R. Reetha (Tvm) 25-6, 20-25, 25-20. (Semifinals): N. Mythili (Chennai) bt R. Reetha (Tvm) 25-8, 25-4; N. Padmini (Salem) bt K. Meenakshi (Madurai) 25-5, 25-23.
