Volleyball
BANGALORE, OCT. 16. Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) had the unbeaten Karnataka State Police (KSP) by the scruff of its neck. Leading 2-0 and 6-2 in the third, LIC seemed to be in a win-win situation in the senior division volleyball league at the Sree Kanteerava outdoor court here today. But the Policemen won the contest 18-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-16, 15-12 in 85 minutes. Ganesh Rai and Kanvi unleashed a few stirring smashes to first rattle the LIC defence which until then was riding high on the brilliance of Vikram and Bharat. Suresh too came up with some of his deft drops in the opening two sets but once KSP hit back there was little resistance. After levelling the scores 2-2, KSP tightened its backcourt game considerably to return everything won 15-12. This was KSP's ninth straight win. Earlier, SAI lads stopped AGORC's three match winning spree with a 25-20, 22-25, 25-23, 25-16 win.
CIL beat ITI 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 25-21, 16-12.
