HYDERABAD, OCT.16. Ashok Jadhav inched ahead of the more fancied Deepak Chinnappa and Preetam Munityappa in the qualifying session of the the showcase event of Indian National Karting Championshpi (INKC) of the fourth round of the MRF-MAI Formule Mondiale karting championship at Kart Sport Treasure Island here today. Interesetingly the trio was separated by fractions of a second each. In the Cadet Class (K-INKC), Nikhil Kashyap was the quickets in the qualifying round topping the time charts while pushing Vishnu Prasad and Chittesh Madody to second and third places respectively. In the Karting Champions Trophy (KCT) class, Alok Katakun took the top spot for tomorrow's race, followed by Lakshmisha V and Gautam N. All the competitors in the MRF-MAI Formule Mondiale series will drive Alpha Karts, imported from France, that run on 15 horse power Briggs and Stratton engine and attain top speeds of over 80 Kmph. The Karts are fitted with CIK-FIA approved MRF tyres. The subsequent rounds of the MRF-MAI Formule Mondiale series will be held in Nagpur (November 29) and Bangalore (December 12). The MRF-sponsored series will be run in accordance with the International Sporting Code of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the World governing body for motorsports, applicable definitions of the Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) and the National Karting regulations of the Motorsports Association of India (MAI), the ASN of the CIK-FIA in India.
