Big win for Vizag

VISAKHAPATNAM, OCT. 16. Visakhapatnam defeated Srikakulam by an innings and six runs in the two-day league encounter in the ACA north zone U-17 inter-district Matrix Labs GSS Ramachandra Raju trophy tournament, which concluded at Vizianagaram on Saturday.

At the M.R. College Stadium, Visakhapatnam, which took a 63-run lead in the first innings, dismissed Srikakulam again the second innings for an identical 57 runs. Medium pacer P. Trinath once again tormented the rivals to bag four wickets for 26 runs. G.V.S. Prasad provided a good foil to him with four wickets for ten runs.

The other match at Vizzy Stadium between the host Vizianagaram and East Godavari ended as a draw with the former gaining the first innings lead of 15 runs.

The scores: Srikakulam 57 and 57 (GVS Prasad 4 for 10, P. Trinath 4 for 26) lost to Visakhapatnam 120.

Vizianagaram 159 and 90 (Ravi Chopra 26, Balasubramanyam 6 for 33) drew with East Godavari 144 (Umasrikanth 46, P. Raghu 42, Venkatesh 25, Dileep Venkatesh 5 for 23, Ramachandra Raju 3 for 25) and 100 for eight (Umasrikanth 37, Ravi Chopra 3 for 17, G. Santosh 3 for 29)
