VIRUDHUNAGAR, NOV. 4. Defending champion, Karnataka registered a facile 3-0 win over Andhra in the five-team round robin league of the South Zone under-21 hockey championship here on Thursday. Karnataka opened the account in the 13th minute though Kusalappa. Nilesh scored and Ravikumar completed tally. Tamil Nadu was held to a 1-1 draw by Hyderabad. Tamil Nadu has now four points to its credit while Hyderabad has only one point in two matches. Tamil Nadu took the lead in the 10th minute through Alfred Asir, Aleem posted the euqaliser. Earlier in the morning, Kerala recorded its first win defeating Andhra 2-1. Kerala's first goal was scored by Binu (16th minute) and Nideesh scored the second (32nd). Andhra bounced back strongly and pulled one back in the 38th minute when Abdul Ajeem scored off a cross from left by Srinivasa Rao.
