Play the full quota, Bashar tells his batsmen

DHAKA, NOV. 4. Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar has just one target for his batsmen in Friday's second limited-overs international against New Zealand — bat the full 50 overs.

``Our target is to play all the 50 overs of the match,'' Bashar told reporters on Thursday after a practice session. ``We must not lose too many wickets in the first 15 overs.''

The one-dayer will be played at Dhaka's Bangabandhu National Stadium, three days after Bangladesh's 138-run loss in the opening of the three-match series.

``We want to perform well in the next two matches. My message to the boys is `stay in the crease as long as possible and make runs,''' Bashar said.

New Zealand, led by acting skipper Daniel Vettori, returned from Chittagong late on Wednesday. Vettori took over from regular skipper Stephen Fleming, who returned home after leading the team to a 2-0 sweep in the Test series.

Bangladesh has so far played 96 one-dayers since 1985. It has won just five, with two others ending without a result.
