JAIPUR, NOV. 6. The Government Senior Secondary School in Kuhadwas village of Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan has reopened after cancellation of the Principal's transfer following a month-long agitation by students and their parents on whom the police had opened fire. More than 20 villagers were injured in the incident on October 7 and one of them sustained bullet injury in his foot. The villagers were protesting against the transfer of the school Principal, Ganga Ram, who had improved the academic atmosphere, created more facilities for students and enhanced the results during his 13-month tenure. The school children, backed by 27 village panchayats of the region, had locked the school since October 5, demanding cancellation of Mr. Ganga Ram's transfer. The State Government has now ordered an inquiry into the firing incident by the Jaipur Divisional Commissioner, Ajit Singh. The district administration has also announced payment of compensation of Rs. 10,000 to Amar Singh Dhanka, who had got the bullet injury. The Divisional Commissioner will look into the demand for disciplinary action against the Deputy Superintendent of Police facing the allegation of using excessive force.
