Congress MP to meet Sonia on quota issue
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
NOV. 6.
The Congress MP from Andhra Pradesh, Sarvey Sathyanarayana, said today that he planned to approach the party president, Sonia Gandhi, and request her that the party take initiative in enacting a Central legislation providing reservation for various categories.
Reacting to the Supreme Court order striking down the legislation providing for reservation within reservation, he said that since he belonged to the Madiga community, which would stand to lose most, the Congress should take measures.
The Telugu Desam Party, he said, which claimed credit for the move did not make any effort to ensure that a Central legislation was passed even though it was supporting the National Democratic Alliance at the Centre.
Mr. Satyanarayana said he would also approach other party leaders such as Ram Vilas Paswan, and seek their assistance.
