`Arrest will cost State dearly'

HYDERABAD, NOV.16. Mr. Dattatreya has alleged that the Centre had a role in the arrest of the Sankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi, by the Tamil Nadu police.

Talking to reporters, Mr. Dattattrya described the arrest as a "big conspiracy" and said that both the Centre and the State Government would have to pay a price for it.

It was wrong on the part of the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, to have stated that the Centre had no role in the arrest, he added.
