Sangh Parivar outfits form human chain

TIRUCHI, NOV.20. Nearly 200 volunteers of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bharathiya Janata Party, Hindu Munnani, and other Sangh Parivar outfits, today formed a human chain along the West Boulevard Road here today demanding immediate release of the Acharya of the Sri Kanchi Mutt, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, and withdrawal of murder charges against him.

Led by the joint State general secretary of the VHP, N. Gopalarathinam, the volunteers shouted slogans condemning the double standards adopted by politicians on the issue. They assailed the DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, for his statement welcoming the arrest of the Acharya, and the Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa, for her contention that the arrest was appreciated by the people in the State.

Perambalur

Cadres of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad staged a demonstration near the Old bus stand here today protesting the arrest of the Kanchi Acharya, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi. The district president of the BJP, G. Ayyarappan, led the demonstration.
