Jharkhand Government gesture to BCs, OBCs

RANCHI, NOV. 22. The Jharkhand Government today decided to include different Backward Castes and Other Backward Classes in the Scheduled Castes (SC) category and recommended that a tribal community be included in the Scheduled Tribes category.

At a Cabinet meeting today, the Arjun Munda Government passed a resolution on inclusion of certain Backward and Other Backward Classes in the SC category on the basis of a report submitted by the Tribal Research Institute (TIR). The BCs and the OBCs to be included in the SC category were named as Kek, Bagchi, Punai and Jhar .

The Cabinet resolved to recommend to the Centre inclusion of Kangra tribes in the ST category.

It also approved a proposal for construction of a 85.089 km-long, six-lane ring road at a cost of Rs. 755.26 crores. The road would have nine big bridges, 31 small bridges, 233 culverts and seven flyovers.
