ADILABAD, NOV. 23. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Adilabad unit has demanded regularisation of all agriculture power connections. It has also sought withdrawal of criminal cases against farmers in the name of unauthorised power connections. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the TDP spokesman, Jogu Ramanna, and the Telugu Rythu district general secretary, B. Goverdhan Reddy, said the TDP would launch agitation in case the plight of farmers was not addressed by the Government. Quoting figures, they said over 5,000 cases were registered against farmers after the Congress returned to power. They also demanded at least three-week time for contractors to participate in the fresh tender process on irrigation projects. They criticised the Government for `going back' on its promise of implementing the GO 610.
